I awoke this morning thinking about greatness. The word is an adjective that describes something, but that’s not what I was thinking. I was thinking about the Greatness that God puts in us. I was thinking about the Greatness that God puts inside us, in our souls and in our spirits and even in our bodies. He puts it there before we are even born or even conceived. This is referenced in the book of Psalms and elsewhere in the Bible. But the greatness that I was mainly thinking about is that character that God creates in us as a reflection of Himself, the masterpiece of His handiwork. See, God is so talented, all knowing, all powerful, that all beauty comes from Him. He is the source, the beginning and the end. He cannot help but create beauty when He puts His hand to something.
So Greatness is a natural result of God’s creation. In each of us Greatness is a consequence of Him who made us, formed us physically in the womb. We are a reflection of Him and so the Greatness is always there.
Sometimes our Greatness becomes smudged, tarnished, worn, dirty, or dull. But we must always remember that it’s source is not us but God. And He makes all things new. He can buff off the rough edges and shine you right up today, revealing that greatness once again that He put there before you were born.
